A Second Set of Hands Care Services grew from my family’s experience caring for the people we love.

My sisters and I cared for our mother as she lived with back and joint problems. We helped her move safely, supported her through physical therapy, and paid attention to the small things that made each day more comfortable. We chose to care for her at home, where she could be surrounded by family and receive the same love and consideration she had given us throughout our lives.

Our family also took turns caring for my grandmother, who had dementia, alongside my aunt, her primary caregiver. That experience taught me how much thoughtful care matters and how much it matters for caregivers to have time to rest.

Those experiences shape the way I lead A Second Set of Hands. The people we care for are never just a name on a schedule. Each person has their own needs, routines, and ways of feeling safe and comfortable. Our team has experience supporting children and adults with physical and cognitive needs. We listen to families, learn each person’s routines, and approach their care with patience, respect, and attention to safety.

I want families to feel they can rest mentally while their loved one is in our care. Trust is built through the little things: showing up, paying attention, communicating, and treating people with the consideration we would want for our own family.

I also know that parents and family caregivers need a break sometimes. Time to rest, run errands, attend to other responsibilities, or simply catch their breath helps them return to their loved ones feeling more present. Being able to do that with peace of mind means knowing their child or family member is with someone who truly cares.

Today, A Second Set of Hands supports families through childcare, senior companionship and daily support, postpartum and newborn care, birth doula support, transportation, and respite and occasional care. Whatever brings you to us, our goal is to offer careful, compassionate support that feels personal.
